I scanned the glass case displaying a multitude of ice cream containers as I breathed in the sweet smell of cream and sugar in Clementine’s Ice Cream in the Shops of Prairie Village — the new location of the shop that was originally based in St. Louis, Missouri. Unsure of what to order, I asked what the most popular flavors were and was quickly pointed in the direction of the salted caramel cookies and cream, gooey butter cake and Italian butter cookie ice creams. I ordered one scoop of each and excitedly walked towards the checkout counter. Then the cashier told me the price of my purchase.
