On This Day: October 4th Our Class of 1982 Professional Player Inductee, Bill “Panther” Rogers won the Texas Open on the PGA TOUR in 1981. Bill was victorious over fellow Texas Golf Hall of Fame Member, Ben Crenshaw in a playoff after both finished at -14 in regulation. 1981 was a personal best for Rogers as he had four wins (including a Major at the Open Championship) and was a member of the winning US Ryder Cup team.
