Renewable energy has become the world's biggest source of electricity in 20225, helping drive down coal and gas use.⁣ ⁣ China, India, the EU and the U.S. combined, account for almost two-thirds of electricity generation and carbon dioxide emissions from the power sector globally.⁣ ⁣ In the first six months of 2025 China added more solar and wind power than the rest of the world combined.
