Legacy Week Faculty Spotlight: Kim Sagami This week, we are honored to feature Kim Sagami, Chicago-based ballet teacher, répétiteur, and Executive Director of The Gerald Arpino Foundation. A former dancer with The Joffrey Ballet for fourteen years under the direction of Robert Joffrey and Gerald Arpino, Kim’s artistry and teaching carry forward the lineage and philosophy of both founders. Her approach to teaching is informed by her work with mentors Maggie Black, Hilary Cartwright, and Alonzo King, integrating deep technical understanding with a thoughtful awareness of structure and alignment—a reflection of her architectural background. Kim has taught for organizations including the Joffrey Ballet’s Grainger Academy, Roosevelt University, Fort Wayne Ballet, and the Chicago High School for the Arts, among many others.
