“Hair shedding or hair fall is normal depending on the amount.
It is normal to shed about 150 hairs daily, but this can vary based on styling and grooming practices. This scale is helpful to visualize the amount of hairs shed daily (this scale is based on medium to long, straight hair and is most accurate for this hair length or texture). It is common to see more hair shed or fall on wash days or when brushing hair, especially when going multiple days between washes or brushing.
If you notice more hair fall than usual, it could be a sign of telogen effluvium (stress induced hair loss) or early androgenetic alopecia (hormonal hair loss). When I was diagnosed with telogen effluvium, I was losing about 400 hairs per day.
Starting products or shampoos that contain topical caffeine, zinc or ketoconazole may help to slow down hair fall. If the shedding persists, I recommend seeking care from a board-certified dermatologist for diagnosis and treatment.” - via
