Placing last isn’t always a bad thing! It’s the proof to have the courage to start and the strength to finish 🤝
Often you learn so much more from their races! Here’s some things I've found value in from experience:
🏃♂️ Effort over placement:
Crossing the finish line, even last, proves you dared to start. Many people never even try, having a effort focused goal will always be more in your control than a placement/time goal.
🔎 Figure out where to improve:
Finishing last gives you clear feedback: maybe you need to train differently, pace yourself better (in my situation, do less other things like work), or prioritize. It shows you the gaps.
💪 Mental toughness:
Leaving the ego behind. Pushing when you’re behind builds resilience. That you finish what you started, even if nothing goes your way.
🧭 Sportsmanship:
Coming last forces you to handle setbacks with grace, support others, and celebrate their success too, and the values of true sportsmanship 🫂
