A popular dog treat sold in stores in the Midwest is being recalled due to potential salmonella contamination, with the Food and Drug Administration warning that the tainted products could also lead to infections in humans.
All-natural dog treat company Best Buy Bones Inc., of Mount Morris Michigan, recalled four lots of Nature's Own Pet Chews Bully Bites, according to an FDA release issued Oct. 3. The one-pound treats, distributed out of Minnesota and sold in retail stores throughout Wisconsin, were packaged in 16-ounce bags with an expiration date of Sept. 2027.
Customers who purchased the items after Sept. 23 are urged to return them to the place of purchase, or "destroy the food in a way that children, pets, and wildlife cannot access it."
