Every day in Johannesburg, South Africa, an estimated 3-4 babies are abandoned—left in trash bags, rivers, and even toilets. 💔 The baby abandonment crisis is a tragic result of poverty, lack of resources and education, and ultimately, desperation. Many families living in informal settlements in South Africa struggle to provide for their basic needs. Some mothers desperately feel they have no choice but to abandon their babies. It’s heartbreaking. It’s dark. But it’s not hopeless. We refuse to look away while precious babies—made in God’s image—are being thrown away. We’re called to run into the chaos and to fight for those in their most desperate hour of need.
