Wahoo are biting off the horseshoe kelp. Just kidding.
10 years ago though, after the most insane day of Dorado fishing ever with Captain Jake who was running the Tribute at the time, we pulled two marauders on the way back to San Diego. We were about 3 miles off North Island when we drove by a MONSTER sized kelp. Everybody except two deckhands myself, one other and the captain were still awake when suddenly both rods pinned tight, and we doubled up on Southern California wahoo!
I love bluefin tuna fishing but those El Niño years are something special! Yellowfin, big Dorado and a stray wahoo or blue Marlin would be dope. I'd like to cast at some Wahoo one day, maybe we will organize a long range trip on one of Frank Lopreste's boats so we can enjoy this style of offshore fishing.
Thanks to landesfeind for the inspiration to go down memory lane with his wahoo post. 10 years has flown by and I look forward to the next 10 building memories with you all!
