關於泥染工藝
泥染中發生的化學反應源於泥田中含有的鐵和生長於當地的植物,經過多次染色,絲綢和棉纖維會轉變為深棕色。這一染色技術據信在江戶時代中期已經開始使用,據說是偶然發現的:某人把一件植物染色(草木染)的和服留在稻田裡,後來再去尋找時,發現這件和服已經染成了美麗的黑色。泥染所需的泥田只能在土壤質量非常細膩且富含鐵的有限區域內準備。自古以來,奄美大島的黏土層中就分布著含有大量鐵的泥土,這些泥田位於山腳下,能夠吸收並儲存來自上游的礦物質豐富的雨水。

About Mud Dye
The mud required for this technique can only be sourced from specific areas with fine soil rich in iron. Historically, the clay layers on Amami Island have abundant iron-rich soil, located at the foot of mountains that absorb mineral-rich rainwater from upstream.
