Nightmare fuel. 😨 Native American artist Cannupa Hanska Luger (cannupahanska) has announced that he helped build “Tinsel Larry” — one of the haunting mascot in Jordan Peele’s newest horror film, HIM (himmovie). 🏈👹 Cannupa shared that “this project offered a rare chance to confront the violence of mascotry itself," while thanking lead costume designer Dominique Dawson (dominique_dawson) for the collaboration. In a new interview today, Dawson revealed more about the process: “I’m really proud of the work that we did on this project to show the level of injury that happens to athletes and how that can create psychosis..." Dawson shared, "[Conquistador Larry] evolves into Tinsel Larry... we worked to build and create with an incredible artist from New Mexico named Cannupa,” referencing the project’s Native symbolism.
