Since starting in Iowa in 2023, Ian Roberts — the first Black leader of Des Moines Public Schools, a majority minority district — had been a students' superintendent. Present. Available. But, now, after being detained by immigration services for working without authorization and the revelation that he falsified many of his accolades and qualifications, Roberts is also a symbol of the expansive repercussions of mistruths.
