Trigger alert: suicide discussed
Today is National Depression Screening Day, a reminder that it’s ok to reach out for help.
We also want to share that staff have conducted 83 suicide screenings with students so far this school year. The ages where we’ve seen the most screenings — ages 12 and 13.
Now encouraging numbers: more than 500 parents/guardians attended our schools’ suicide prevention nights last month, and an additional 200 staff members have been trained in suicide prevention and response. That’s 700 more people who know how to support kids in crisis.
