Greenpeace condemns the Israeli government's illegal and forceful interception of the Thousand Madleens and Freedom Flotilla Coalition vessels in international waters, en route to deliver aid and support to the people of Gaza. Once more we say: World leaders must meet their obligation to defend the right of their citizens to safe passage at sea. They must act to ensure the right to break Israel’s illegal siege to support the delivery of lifesaving medical and humanitarian aid. It is time for peace. It’s time to restore the norms of international laws that compel governments around the world to act now to end the genocide, end the famine and end their complicity. The flotilla crews must be returned to their vessels and allowed to complete their mission.
