The Fulbright Korea ETA Program gives American college graduates the opportunity to teach English as English Teaching Assistants (ETAs) in Korean elementary and secondary schools. ETAs are typically placed outside of major metropolitan cities in order to support areas underserved in English education. Through their roles as conversational English instructors, ETAs become important pillars in their local communities. After arriving in Korea, ETAs attend the Placement Ceremony, a momentous occasion where ETAs are given their school assignment. They mark their placements on a map and see, for the first time, where they will make an impact as teachers and cultural ambassadors.
