The Pink Moon tonight 🌕 The full Moon tonight is called the Pink Moon not because it actually looks pink, but because of a tradition. The name comes from Native American and old European traditions that gave each full Moon a special name based on what was happening in nature at that time of year. In April, a wildflower called moss phlox (which is pink) starts to bloom in North America. So, this full Moon became known as the Pink Moon to mark the arrival of spring and blooming flowers. So, it’s more about the season than the Moon’s color. I added a pink hue to the highlights of the image for the occasion. The Moon didn’t look this pink in the real image. The image is a high dynamic range of a stacked image and 2 additional exposures. Sign up for my newsletter to get updates about the print drop of this image.
