Younger me would be happy. Never let a day go by where being yourself makes you feel inferior. They can tear up rainbow crosswalks, but that erasure wouldn’t have stopped me from being gay🌈 Next year makes ten years since I came out in 2016, and it took me YEARS to be open with myself and those around me. My anxiety from doubt of acceptance has faded away with time with the wonderful support system I’m fortunate to have around me, and I couldn’t have been more wrong about my fear of being openly gay. No one should ever feel a lack of self worth and happiness. I’m thankful for all of the allies in my life, and the incredible support system me and my husband have today. Coming out looks different for everyone, and l hope others feel the courage to just be themselves.
