In this BMW iX Review – 2026 iX M70, we spend a full week driving and living with BMW’s most powerful electric SUV. We cover what’s new for 2026 (cleaner front fascia, more efficient headlights, round steering wheel, revised M70 seats), dig into iDrive 8.5, and test real-world range, comfort, and charging. On 23-inch wheels, we still saw an easy 300+ miles around town (2.6–2.9 mi/kWh) from the ~112 kWh usable pack, helped by a new silicon-carbide inverter and reduced-friction wheel bearings. We also test DC fast charging: ~195 kW peak, strong to ~40%, then a steeper taper—3%→80% in ~39 minutes on our session.
On the road, the air suspension and ultra-quiet cabin (we measured ~low-60s dB on the move) make the iX M70 feel like an electric lounge, yet it’ll still do 0–60 in the mid-3s. We cover the great stuff (seats, Highway Assist up to 85 mph, ambient lighting, cargo flexibility) and the annoyances (HVAC buried in the screen, awkward cupholder placement, no frunk).
