Today I went under anesthesia for the first time and experienced my first ever surgical procedure. I wasn't really planning on sharing exactly what it was for, but I figured I should, as it is something that is not exactly talked about often. A little over a year ago, I found out I had low grade precancerous cells on my cervix. Because of this, I had to undergo routine check-ups and testing, where they monitor the cells to ensure they do not progress or spread. Earlier this year, they came back at the lowest grade, which lead my doctor to believe it was going away on it's own.. Until last month, when those results came back at the highest grade - placing me in the Stage 0 Cervical Cancer category. Luckily for me, it was caught early on, when it can be treated and prevented. I just want to stress the utmost importance - PLEASE, for your health and future, get routine check-ups and testing done. Especially if you have history of cancer in your family, as I do. Cancer does not discriminat...
