All telescopes turned to Titan! 👀 Saturn’s moon Titan is the only moon in the Solar System with a dense atmosphere – and also the only planetary body other than Earth that currently has rivers, lakes, and seas! 🌊 Unlike on Earth, however, the liquid on its surface is composed of hydrocarbons like methane and ethane, and its atmosphere is filled with a thick haze. The images captured with the #NIRCam instrument aboard the NASA/ESA/CSA James Webb Space Telescope reveal features of Titan’s atmosphere – the one on the left uses a filter sensitive to its lower atmosphere while the one in the right is a colour composite image. In the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope images, light and dark features over the surface of Titan can be seen. These observations were taken more than 30 years ago using Hubble’s Wide Field and Planetary Camera 2. 📷 nasa , europeanspaceagency , canadianspaceagency , A.
