The most powerful storm of 2025 so far — seen from space 🌀 Our thoughts are with communities affected by Typhoon Ragasa. On 24 September, @eumetsatmedia’s MetOp-B and the Japan Meteorological Agency’s Himawari satellites captured these views of Ragasa swirling south of Hong Kong. Just days earlier, the super typhoon made landfall in the northern Philippines with winds up to 295 km/h — bringing evacuations, power cuts and severe disruption across several provinces. Now downgraded from super typhoon status, Ragasa has made landfall in southern China and continues to move west-northwest. Authorities remain on alert for flooding and storm surges. 📹 Japan Meteorological Agency, Himawari-8/9 data 📸 EUMETSAT/METOP-B, AVHRR RGB Cloud Daily Accumulated, 2025, processed by @europeanspaceagency
