We made our own solar eclipse — in space. 🌘
These stunning images are among the very first taken by our Proba-3 mission, which flies two spacecraft in precise formation to create artificial solar eclipses in orbit.
Using a powerful instrument called a coronagraph, Proba-3 lets us observe the Sun’s corona — the ultra-hot outer atmosphere — in ways we can’t from Earth.
- See the corona in visible light, as your eye would during an eclipse
- Explore extreme heat in the green light of supercharged iron
- Spot a rare cold plasma cloud glowing in helium light
- Discover how polarised light reveals structures hidden in plain sight
-️ And marvel at the combined view from three different missions, filling a long-standing observational gap
All from a mission that’s just getting started.
