Sunday lunch ideas… but make it space approved 🥬
When raphael_astro launches to the iss, he’ll carry more than just scientific experiments — he’s also bringing two comforting Belgian classics that remind him of home.
As part of our “bonus food” tradition, Raphaël has chosen:
- Belgian Endive with Ham Gratin: A Flemish favourite, reimagined by chef Wouter Keersmaekers with ingredients from across Belgium — endive from Brussels, ham from Flanders and Orval cheese from Wallonia. A creamy nod to his mum’s cooking and a delicious symbol of national unity.
- Boulets à la Liégeoise: Iconic Liège-style meatballs in a sweet-and-sour sauce with Sirop de Liège, adapted for space by chef Frédéric Lambert and Maureen Cézar. A warm taste of Walloon tradition – minus the fries, but full of flavour.
“These are simple dishes I know well,” says Raphaël. “They’ll help me feel a bit like I’m at home, even while floating in orbit.”
