Let us take you on a ride… from space! 🚴♀️
To celebrate World Bicycle Day on 3 June, we’ve teamed up with our sister account esa_earth to follow one of Europe’s most iconic cycling routes: ecfeurovelo’s EuroVelo 6, stretching from the Atlantic to the Black Sea — seen through satellite sensors and astronauts’ cameras.
Starting in Nantes, the route winds past French vineyards, through cultural landmarks like Vienna, and historic cities such as Budapest, before reaching the shores of the Black Sea near Constanța. It’s a cyclist’s dream — and just as breathtaking from above.
Along the way, you’ll spot Basel, Ingolstadt, Bratislava, and a glowing Belgrade by night, captured either by satellite or from aboard the iss. And since the giroditalia wrapped up in Rome on 1 June 2025, we’ve added a final view of Italy from space to mark the occasion.
Whether you’re pedalling riverside or admiring Earth from orbit, there’s a world of beauty to discover.
