A rare cosmic flash caught in action! 🌟
On 27 May 2024, the Einstein Probe spotted an intense X-ray burst from a mysterious stellar duo in the Small Magellanic Cloud—a massive Be star and a white dwarf locked in a dramatic dance!
As the white dwarf pulled in material, a sudden nuclear explosion ignited, creating an X-ray flash never seen like this before! Thanks to Einstein Probe’s unique lobster-eye telescope, we now have new insights into the evolution of massive stars.
