Ep. 1 of my new history series “LIFE In The Margins” where we look at America’s past, through the lens of the Media that was being published in the early 1900’s. When you read what was in these early editions of what was Americas most popular magazine - it becomes apparent why it took our country so long to make any real progress, the media being consumed by the masses reinforced so much prejudiced ideology. And we are going to explore that in this series!! Life Magazine essentially created “photo-journalism” and revolutionized the photography industry, they were first ever magazine to format the entire thing like a photo essay. So a lot of modern day artists have a lot owe to this publication, but as a weekly magazine that’s been running since 1936… they captured all the growing pains we went through as a nation (my nice way of saying they were basically white nationalistic propaganda).
