#InternationalMoonDay reminds me of the awe I felt when I saw this stunning #moonrise from the iss during my #BlueDot mission, unexpectedly emerging from behind Earth within a few seconds. To add to the picture, I added nasa DSCOVR’s distant view of the Moon’s far side, and a close-up showing my fellow-geoscientist colleague Jack Schmitt with his hands in the lunar dirt during #Apollo17. Together, these perspectives tell compelling stories of exploration and discovery. And of a journey that has actually just begun — #ForwardToTheMoon, together.
