🌍 Did you know that countries register satellites with the United Nations? 🛰️ On 12–13 May, #UNOOSA hosted the Second Meeting of National Focal Points on Registration, bringing together experts from across the globe to exchange good practices and key insights, which will go towards the development of a 'Registration Toolkit', which will empower countries to:   1️⃣ Implement the Registration Convention (1976) or UN General Assembly Resolution 1721 from 1961 2️⃣ Develop their own registries and frameworks at the national level. 3️⃣ Discuss information-sharing and registration of new and novel space activities (3D printing, in-orbit servicing, rovers, cannibalisation of hardware, active debris removal).   Director Aarti Holla-Maini, Andrew Peebles, and Scarlet O’Donnell from 🇺🇳 UNOOSA opened the meeting with a strong call for enhanced international expertise to achieve a registration rate of 100% space objects (currently ~88% of all functional space objects - 21,500 - are registered)....
