🇺🇳🌠 At number 1️⃣ of our 2024 highlights, we have the Pact for the Future, which was agreed by States at the Summit of the Future, which was convened by United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in September. 💪🏾 The Pact noted the importance of the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (#COPUOS) to address active debris removal, space traffic & space resources, & encouraged a #UNISPACEIV conference in 2027. 📡🌐🛰 UNOOSA took immediate steps to convene technical experts from both government and the private sector to discuss Space Traffic Coordination (STC) at the first-ever United Nations Space Bridge in New York in October. All participants agreed on the urgent need for action to be taken to address challenges to global STC. Key takeaways and recommendations from this event will be shared in a Conference Room Paper at the upcoming Scientific and Technical Sub-Committee.
