🌌🚀👨‍🚀 At Number 5️⃣ of the #UNOOSATop10 highlights of 2024, we’re giving a shout out to the work of our Space Applications Section (SAS), that has delivered capacity-building workshops, launched strategic partnerships to help developing countries access space, and conducted exciting experiments. Here’s a few highlights from 2024: 1️⃣ 🇻🇪 A team from Universidad Central de Venezuela won a Fellowship Programme opportunity to carry out a combustion test in microgravity, which helped understand the effects of microgravity on the welding of aerospace aluminium alloys. This was conducted through UNOOSA’s "Drop Tower Experiment Series" (DropTES), which is in partnership with the ZARM and the German Aerospace Center (DLR). 2️⃣ 🇵🇭 HyperGES, in partnership with European Space Agency - ESA - A team of researchers from two universities in the Philippines - – the University of San Carlos and Holy Name University - made use of ESA’s Large Diameter Centrifuge to test the “bioprinted bone...
