Europe’s first geostationary sounder satellite is launched! 🎉 MTG-S1 will mark a huge leap for #weather forecasting and #climate monitoring. For the first time, Europe will have a space-based view of the full lifecycle of convective storms, with combined data from MTG-S1 and MTG’s imaging satellites enabling earlier, more accurate warnings to help protect lives and property. 🛰 #MTGS1 also hosts the EU’s copernicus_eu Sentinel-4 mission and will provide Europe’s national meteorological services with high-frequency data on temperature, humidity and trace gases throughout the atmosphere.
