Lloyd (Jim Carrey) and Harry (Jeff Daniels) are unknowingly being followed by criminal Joe “Mental" Mentalino (Mike Starr) after having picked up a suitcase full of cash that was meant for a ransom exchange. Mental poses as a hitchhiker and joins Harry and Lloyd on their way to return the suitcase to its owner, Mary Swanson (Lauren Holly).
