Can you see the smile? 🙃
These stunning images we share on ‘World Smile Day’ were captured by @esawebb and show a cosmic interaction between an elliptical and spiral galaxy, together forming Arp 107. The spiral’s “smile” and bright “eyes” are actually star-forming regions, revealed through Webb’s infrared instruments.
As these galaxies merge over millions of years, intense star formation occurs, and their gas and dust are pulled and scattered. Located 465 million light-years away in Leo Minor, this galactic duo is far from done evolving!
