Be a space explorer & help classify galaxies! ✨
A new Galaxy Zoo project has launched, and you can help identify the shapes of thousands of galaxies captured by our Euclid space telescope. Your classifications will aid scientists in understanding how galaxy shapes have evolved and what drives these changes.
Euclid’s mission is to map the Universe, capturing images of countless distant galaxies. Last November and May, we got a sneak peek at Euclid’s incredible image quality, showcasing everything from nearby nebulas to far-off galaxy clusters. Each photo holds hundreds of thousands of galaxies waiting to be explored.
For the next six years, Euclid will send back a whopping 100 GB of data daily. That’s why together with the Euclid consortium, we have teamed up with Galaxy Zoo, a citizen science project on @the.zooniverse, where you can help classify galaxy shapes. You might be the first to lay eyes on a brand-new galaxy!
