Deep dive into the Draco Dwarf Galaxy! ✨ This carousel takes you on a cosmic journey into the Draco Dwarf Galaxy, a satellite galaxy of our Milky Way, located a whopping 250 000 light-years away! The first image shows a wide view of Draco (the Dragon), with the central square and diamond highlighting areas zoomed in on by the mighty @hubbleesa (shown in the images 2 and 3). By studying the movement of stars within Draco over 18 years, astronomers have created the most detailed 3D map of its stellar motions ever! This helps us unlock the secrets of dark matter, the mysterious invisible substance that makes up most of the galaxy’s mass. Can you spot the faint glow of Draco in the main image? Swipe to see the magnified views for a closer look at the dazzling stars within this dwarf galaxy! 📸 @europeanspaceagency / @hubbleesa & @NASA, Digitized Sky Survey, Roeland van der Marel (@space_telescopes); @creativecommons CC BY 4.0
