Keira Knightley has admitted she was "not aware" of the fan boycott against J.K. Rowling-related projects before signing up to star in the new Harry Potter audiobook series.
The actor, who takes on the role Dolores Umbridge in the audiobook series of Harry Potter, was asked in an interview with Decider if she was aware that many people were boycotting the author's work.
"I was not aware of that, no. I’m very sorry," Knightley said. "You know, I think we’re all living in a period of time right now where we’re all going to have to figure out how to live together, aren’t we? And we’ve all got very different opinions. I hope that we can all find respect."
Knightley is one of the stars, including Hugh Laurie and Matthew Macfadyen, to join the Audible series, which has attracted criticism from LGBTQ+ community.
