A moment to appreciate Ralphie’s Handlers🙏🏻
Ralphie Handlers are full-time CU students and varsity student-athletes who run with Ralphie and care for her year round. They train up to 5 days a week during the season, with 2 days of speed training and weightlifting and 2-3 days of practice with Ralphie. They practice her typical right-hand “horseshoe” run, and will mix in additional shapes to keep themselves and Ralphie sharp.
They are also responsible for Ralphie’s care and are taught how to interact with her and work with her safely. The team is comprised of approximately 15 athletes, both male and female. The Handlers earn a varsity letter for each year they are on the team. Each year, Handlers have the opportunity to apply for the Hackbart-Reyes Ralphie Handler scholarship award.
Handlers also get to represent the University and athletic department at official Ralphie appearances. They interact with fans, promote the program, and answer questions about Ralphie.
