I never understood why we men are applauded when we serve our families outside of our “traditional” roles of provider & protector. Speaking for myself, I do so for selfless and selfish reasons. The apartment I grew up in had roaches everywhere so some of my compulsion to clean does come from a sense of trama. I also go the extra mile based on my own personal standards and to model what our children will later expect from themselves (Josiah) and their spouse (Moriah). Lastly, with all that Nicole does behind the scenes, I do everything in my power to lighten her load around here. Because, when her mind is consumed with a long to-do list, how can she fully engage with our kiddos and most importantly, ME when they go to bed?!
