On Wednesday, October 8th, Salve Regina University Director of Athletics Dr. Sean Sullivan announced Jay Punsky as the next head coach for the Seahawks’ men’s ice hockey program. Punsky, a native of South Portland, ME, returns to his alma mater (‘07) after spending the last four seasons at Worcester State, two as a head coach. He’d lead the Lancers to back-to-back #MASCAC playoff appearances. Beginning his coaching career back in the 2007-2008 season, Punsky held the reins at Middletown High (RI) for six seasons before moving into the junior ranks. He’d work with the Bay State Breakers in the #USPHL, assisting with their Premier team and head coaching the Empire team from 2013-2015. He’d then shift to the NA3EHL, taking over control of the Cape Cod Islanders for the next two seasons, winning the Coach of the Year award in his former season of 2015-2016.
