What does spaceflight have in common with ageing? 👨‍🚀 Astronauts face muscle loss, weaker bones and changes to their immune system - much like what happens as we grow older. But here’s the twist: in space, most of these effects are reversible. Why does this matter? Because understanding how our bodies adapt to space not only protects astronauts, it could also reveal new insights into ageing here on Earth. The research was published in The FASEB Journal (DOI: 10.1096/fj.202402989R). If you’re curious, search for that exact code - it’ll take you straight to the paper. 📹 @europeanspaceagency 🎞️ @uni_magdeburg – Daniela Grimm; ESA - @astro_andreas; ESA/@NASA - @astro_timpeake; ESA/NASA - S.Cristoforetti; NASA; ESA - @astro_slawosz; ESA/NASA - @esamatthiasmaurer; ESA / Life & Physical Science, Instrumentation and Life Support Laboratory, TEC-MMG Department; S.v.Rijthoven; ESA - @esaastro_marcus; ESA/NASA - @astro_alex_esa 📸 Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg – Daniela G...
