This year, we had an impressive 209 Northwood learners participate in the South African Mathematics Foundation Mathematics Olympiad, with 86 of these learners progressing to the second round! Furthermore, 2 of our learners were ranked in the top 100 in the country in the senior division, qualifying for the third and final round. Congratulations to Rahiel Luckan (grade 11) and Saiyen Moodley (grade 10) for this exceptional achievement. At the end of term 3, the South African Mathematics Foundation invited the top 100 learners in KZN from Round 2 of the Olympiad, to take part in the South Africa Math Teams Competition. Jaden Murugus was placed into the 4th Junior team, Yusuf Noor Mahommed and Ureshen Naicker were placed into the 3rd Senior team, Hang-huan Shih and Saiyen Moodley were placed into the 2nd senior team and Rahiel Luckan as well as Luvashin Moodley, were placed into the 1st senior team.
