#16: “Good Thing We’re Tough.”
•
Marathons don’t give a sh*t about your excuses. When I woke up this morning nauseous, I hoped it was nerves. It lasted the whole race. Every goal abandoned, my run turned into mostly a brisk walk, dry heaving whenever I tried to pick up my feet to run. My body felt capable of completing this race in my goal time, but it said otherwise, and I thought I might end up with a DNF in a med tent.
Today was all for Korbin, who I know carried me to the finish line in one shape.
I’ve run Chicago 6 times, and today won’t be the last. I’ll get my Chicago PR again, hopefully next time without freak injuries and illnesses over the course of the training period.
