Today we honor
#IndigenousPeoplesDay, a time to celebrate the diverse cultures, histories, and resilience of Native peoples across Turtle Island and here in the unceded territory of the Awaswas-speaking Uypi Tribe.
Observed each year on the second Monday of October, this day recognizes the enduring presence, sovereignty, and strength of Indigenous peoples—who have always been here, and whose knowledge, leadership, and traditions continue to shape our communities and our shared future.
At UC Santa Cruz, we remain in solidarity with our Native communities and invite you to join us in supporting the American Indian Resource Center (aircucsc) through Giving Day (Nov. 5) and upcoming fall events that uplift Indigenous voices, foodways, stories, and traditions.
