Family Archive Triptych [Bin #1] (2025) 🛌 - Found mattress, blinds, canvas-printed photos, insulation foam Bed: 6’x10’, Blinds: 3’x4’, Foam Cans (13): 3”x10” - This piece, Family Archive Triptych [Bin #1], is the introductory work to a new series exploring my family’s archive on my maternal side. This exploration is made with the special accompaniment of my grandma, also known as “G.” - G is a natural storyteller and the matriarch of a family in which the women—my mom, my aunts, and others—have been meticulously recording and photographically archiving our family since the late 50s. Though many of them may not consider themselves photographers or archivists, their consistent documentation has created a rich, complex history to engage with (and in my eyes, they all are photographers in their own right). - My work responds to this history by creating multimedia and installation pieces that interpret the delicate line between fiction and fact.
