My sister wasn’t supposed to be able to see or hear anything.
She was born deaf, blind, and unable to function in the ways needed to survive. But whenever I walked into the hospital room, she would look in my direction, as if she knew. That spiritual connection was my first glimpse of hope in something greater than myself. Even though she only lived five days, her influence has stayed with me my whole life.
Growing up, I’ve carried my faith in the plan of happiness, knowing that my sister who passed is still part of our family. Loss has taught me that death isn’t an ending. It is just a pause until we meet again. I know my sister, and all my family that have passed away, are waiting for me. And because Jesus Christ overcame death, I can feel peace, I can live with hope, I can keep their memory alive, and I can trust in Christ and His plan. —Kaitlin
