At the summit of Mount Blue Sky, researchers from CUEngineering, NIST and NOAA are using a portable optical atomic clock to test Einstein’s prediction that time moves faster the farther you get from Earth’s center.
Success could mark a breakthrough for both fundamental physics and applied measurement science, advancing tools that one day might help predict volcanic activity, monitor rising seas or navigate spacecraft across the solar system.
