The UNC volleyball program revealed a new sport-specific, Taraflex court at Carmichael Arena earlier this week. Previously, the Tar Heels had played on a dual-use court shared with the women’s basketball program. Taraflex, described as “the first choice for volleyball flooring,” provides the courts for high-level volleyball matches across the country, including the NCAA Championship. The installation of the new court in Carmichael marks the first time the UNC program will have played home matches on a volleyball-specific surface in head coach Mike Schall’s three-year tenure. “The new Taraflex court is a big deal for our program,” Schall told Chapelboro. “It enhances our student-athlete experience by giving them a safer surface to play on and gives Carmichael Arena even more of a volleyball feel to it.
