It’s been 13 years behind the chair for me now and the industry has changed so much. Social media was not a part of my business plan when I started, something a lot of us relate to. It comes with so many pros but not without its cons. My pros have been: the ability to stay and feel more connected with the guests who sit in my chair as well as those that don’t. I’ve been able to feel more passionate and Inspired by finding community within all of this. I’ve learned, grown friendships and found dreams I didn’t know I could achieve. It’s been wonderful for all of those things, but it’s been a difficult transition because of how demanding it can feel. If I’m not keeping up on posting or connecting I begin to feel guilty, disappointing even. I feel as if those posts about stylists not posting every clients color, upsetting their client, put this unbeknownst pressure on us when tbh.. we just tryna survive. It’s truly never personal, I speak for all the stylists I know on that one.
