Taeil, who was sentenced to three years and six months in prison for group sexual assault, has received the same sentence in his appeal trial.
On October 17, the appellate court dismissed both the prosecution’s and the defendant’s appeals, upholding the original verdict of three years and six months in prison.
The court also ordered the defendants to complete 40 hours of a sexual violence treatment program and banned them from working at institutions related to children, teens, or the disabled for five years.
Taeil’s side had appealed, saying he turned himself in and reached a settlement with the victim, while prosecutors appealed, arguing the sentence was too lenient compared to their initial request of seven years.
However, the court rejected both appeals.
This ruling comes from the second trial, meaning the sentence will be finalized only if neither side files an appeal to the Supreme Court.
