Comedian John Bishop has opened up about what allyship means to him as the parent of an LGBTQ+ child. Speaking to Queerly at a press event for the film ‘Is This Thing On?’, Bishop said:“I don’t regard myself as an ally, I’m just a dad. I’ve got three sons and one of them happens to fancy men, that’s it. To me I don’t see why that’s hard for people to get their head around, but it’s a lovely thing that people in the community think that I’m supportive.” John Bishop has not publicly disclosed which of his sons is gay – but he frequently references his support for them in his material.
